We
are discussing finding out the best make up foundation for
you. We have discussed the
types
of foundations and how you should pick the one that is best
suited for your skin type. Now we are discussing
how you should choose the right color and how to apply
foundation.
What about color?
Ideally, the foundation has to be of the exact tone as your skin; it has to match your skin color. This way it looks natural and it makes your skin look great, but you do not look like an artificial
doll. To find this special color is no easy task. Usually it is very difficult to identify your exact color in the drugstore or discount store because of the bad lighting and not being able to open the bottles. Be diligent to identify a good color for you. Or
if you do not find it, you can mix two colors to make your own.
Some good brands like
Mac Cosmetics specializing in makeup do a better job with colors. Also they can test the colors on you to find a good tone.
Matte: There are matte foundations that eliminate shine form the skin. They are ideal for oily types.
Dewy or iridescent: They add some shine to the skin and they are very sheer. They are ideal for women with good skin who need light coverage. Not a good choice for
oily skin.
Women
make mistakes when choosing a foundation. Many women,
particularly those who want to look whiter, apply foundations that are too light for their skin color. This does not help at all; it only makes your skin look ashy.
Avoid any ingredients that make you look ashy such as titanium.
If you have
dark spots, you may want to use a foundation of your lighter skin color. The spots will be visible, but less noticeable. If you want more coverage use a mid tone between the darker and lighter areas.
Foundation has to be well applied. Most makeup artists use a
makeup sponge. You
must buy a good quality one and be careful to change it often to prevent infections.
The foundation has to be well spread on the skin avoiding ticker spots and diffusing it well in the jaw line. You do not want to look as if you are wearing a
mask.
Do not be afraid to
experiment with colors and textures. By experimenting, you will discover the best
one for you. |
