If you are single during this holiday season, you are not the only one.  What that means is that there are millions of other people out there who are in similar situation.  Or in other words, ready to find someone like you.  Here is how to go about it:

• Do not decline any invitations to parties and social events.  These can all be great opportunities to meet some new people and to get the word out that you are a great person who happens to be single.  Networking is a great way to find a relationship.  (Related:  Christmas for singles)
• If you must have a date for an event, it is perfectly fine to bring another single person along with the understanding that s/he is free to meet new people while you introduce her/him as a friend or a companion rather than a date.
• Try online dating where you can find a date relatively easily. (Related article:  How to write a powerful personal ad?)
• If you have not followed up with old dates, friends, and acquaintances, this is also a great opportunity to reconnect.  Calling this time of the year is harmless and who knows someone you call might be single and actually might welcome your call for a possible reunion.

Being single and having fun

• Being single is not a crime and there is no reason for you to feel bad about.  So do not get depressed or lower your self esteem.  On the other hand think of it as an opportunity to know more about you and find the right partner.
• You don't have to be romantically involved all the time.  Use this period to make friends of all types.  As I said before, you do not have to be romantically involved with a person to bring her/him to a party for couples.
• There are always a lot of events for couples.  So check the local listings and see how you can attend with a friend.
