Do it yourself manicures and pedicures
How to do your own manicures and pedicures at home

Summary:  No woman or man disagrees that regular manicures and pedicures are a must for them.  In fact, Katherine Heigl even finds them sexy ("in a weird way," she says).  But they still don't do it.  Some of the reasons are lack of time, costs too much, and for some men, embarrassment of getting a manicure or pedicure at a nail salon.  But what if you could do it at home?  With your partner?  With your friends?  (Related:  How to take care of your feet)

Image of a at home pedicureIt is easy to pamper yourself. Not only do you get a feeling of self-reward, you also realize that you are doing something special for yourself. Perhaps you may not leave the nails looking as perfect as they do in the salon, but depending to which salon you go to, you can do better in many areas. You can make sure your instruments are clean, you can apply high quality or better quality products than in the salon, and you can do it more often.

If you push your cuticles after the shower every other day and apply lotion or oil, you will see how good they look. You can try to give yourself a quick 10 minutes manicure every week and change polish in the middle of the week to keep looking your best.

Same for pedicures. If you rub your feet with a feet file in the shower, it will take just a few seconds and apply lotion afterward and every night (like Jennifer Lopez does), you will have softer feet.  (Related:  Toe shortening surgery)

One of the best treatments you can give to yourself is to soak your feet in rosemary water (warm water with rosemary tea or a few drops of rosemary essential oil). You will relax and also give a purifying bath to your feet.  Another option is Paraffin wax treatment.

Same as with the hand cuticles, try to push (use a different instrument than the one you use on your hands) the cuticles every other day during the shower and apply lotion after the shower.

Once a week you can use an exfoliating product on your feet to get softer skin and prevent calluses. You can also uses a massage wax.  If you have problems with perspiration or bad odor, try to get an over the counter medicine.
