When I saw Masi Oka, the Japanese actor of Heroes, on the red carpet at the Golden Globes (photo copyright: HFPA), I was struck by the fact that he came alone. I assumed that he was single since what Japanese woman would miss the opportunity to be in Hollywood.

I was right about his being single but it looks as if the popularity of the television program has made him hot not just in the US but in his native Japan as well. He tells People magazine that he has been going on a lot of dates lately and now that he is 32, he is ready to find a wife, not just a casual date.

Masi also does not believe in picking up girls at bars, since he is too shy to hang out there, but he uses the Japanese practice of omiai (a blind date arranged by friends or family). While most people find a lot of success with online dating, for him it doesn't work since to create interest, he will have to display a photo, but if he does that, he will be flooded with offers.

So if you see Masi Oka at a party, make sure that you push your contact info to him; he is an open minded guy.
