Ginger and shrimp, stir fried
Recipe when cooked Japanese style

By MYNIPPON Team

Considering the fact that Japan is surrounded by sea in all directions, there are hundreds of Japanese dishes that are based on seafood. Naturally, shrimp is used in a wide variety of dishes. The meaning of the term 'stir-fried' in the world outside Japan is generally meant to denote a Chinese dish but the Japanese do mix shrimp with vegetables and create a variety of dishes. Soy sauce is generally added to enhance the flavor. Here is the recipe for a dish that you will certainly enjoy.  (Related article:  Soy substitute)

Ingredients

1 1/2 pound (approximately 700 gm) cleaned and de-veined shrimp
3 tablespoons of canola oil or other stir fried oil
2 cloves of garlic minced
2 tablespoons of peeled ginger root, chopped
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 tablespoon of toasted sesame oil
1 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper flakes

Heat the oil in a wok over medium-high heat until hot. Add the garlic and ginger and stir fry for about 30 seconds. Add the rest of the ingredients. Stir-fry until shrimps are pink and cooked thoroughly, about 4-5 minutes. Serve immediately.

This should provide 4 servings
