Spicy apple cake

Simple and healthy recipe

Spicy apple cake is a great dish to make when apples are relatively fresh.  A lot of people also like to eat during fall and winter when combining it with a cup of coffee.

What will you need?
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar1.5 cup apple cut in medium size pieces
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/2-cup walnuts or any other nut (only if you wish to add and like nuts with your cake)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of powdered or grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
How to make it?
  • Preheat the oven to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Grease and flour a baking pan (suggested size is 8X8).
  • Mix all the dry ingredients. While mixing add the half-and-half, oil, and vanilla.
  • Mix well and now add the nuts and apple.
  • Put inside the over to bake. After approximately 45 minutes, check to see if it is cooked by inserting a knife in the center of the bread.

Serving suggestion

You may serve it cold or warm with ice cream. Some people like to decorate this spicy apple cake with frosting on top.
