Nonsurgical rhinoplasty (nose job)
An excellent alternative
|
So you want that perfect nose but do not want to
undergo plastic surgery. Well, you are not alone. While cosmetic surgery procedures provide the best results for
most patients, for many patients, going under the knife may not always be the best option. This could be either due to
cost, fear of surgery, or possibility
of unsightly scars. No wonder then that surgeons are coming up with ways to provide plastic-surgery like results but without any actual surgery. |

While rhinoplasty
or nose job is a very common procedure but like any other procedure, it has its own set of risks and side effects - scarring, breathing
difficulties, and lower-than-expected results (in some cases). Dr. Alexander Rivkin, a facial plastic surgeon has developed the Non Surgical Nose Job - a new
procedure that gives patients a minimally invasive option to conventional rhinoplasty. His technique involves the use of
injectable fillers such as
Restylane
or Radiesse to take care of nasal deformities such as humps, drooping tips or sideways deviations of the top of the nose.

A procedure like this involves minimal pain, no bruising, no swelling and you can see the results as the procedure is being done. The procedure is done in
the surgeon's office and takes just under an hour. The surgeon in this case simply applies a numbing cream rather than seeking the services of
anesthesiologist. A small amount of a filler material (Restylane or
Radiance - according to your preference) is then carefully injected into very precise
locations on the top of the nose. This procedure can fill in depressions anywhere on the nose, smooth out sharp angles or change the angle of the tip of the
nose. Although the procedure cannot reduce the size of a large nose, it does restore symmetry to the nose - an important outcome since a symmetric nose
blends in to the rest of the face and actually appears smaller.

Since you are completely conscious all the time, the surgeon can ask for feedback in real time and make changes as needed. In other words, no need to wait
for results to show in weeks. You can resume your normal life as soon as you get out of the doctor's office but your surgeon may want you to come back for a
follow-up visit. The effect of this treatment lasts about two to three years with Radiance, or six to eight months with Restylane.
