Some of the questions that have been asked to us relate to
low acceptance of fishnet stockings in mainstream society. Several people
have written to say that they spoke to their colleagues in the office but almost
all of them wanted to use them but were skeptical about the reaction of men and,
of course, the human resources/ personnel department. MYNIPPON contacted a
few human resources/personnel managers and none of them could say that they
had anything in their policy specifically banning the use of fishnet
stockings. Some companies did mention that their policies do prohibit suggestive clothing and it is too subjective to determine if
fishnet
tights are "suggestive."
In
Japan, for example, companies that do not have a uniform for their women employees, do not
have a policy banning fishnet tights. Most Japanese women who wrote to
MYNIPPON say that they have actually been complimented by their colleagues
with such remarks as - beautiful, cute, great. (Warning:
While it is generally acceptable to praise a Japanese female colleague with the
such words, please be careful in your country). (Related:
Printed
stockings)
The overall consensus that has emerged so far is that till such time that social
acceptance for fishnet tights in the workplace becomes more widespread, it is
better to be safe and use these only when you want to make a bold
statement. Accordingly, parties and weekend trips are appropriate for
fishnet stockings at this time. Of course, there is all the more reason to
use them for romantic moments to bring in the element of excitement and tease.

Spring lingerie)
Women working at banks and law firms have all indicated that they do not hope to
bring out their fishnet stockings to go to work anytime soon. However,
women working for advertising, fashion, and media companies have expressed that
they have started using them at least on Fridays when they do not typically have
any meetings and the dress code is more relaxed.
Several younger women have questioned why fishnets are
considered so hot even though the only difference is the pattern? It does
not expose any more of their bodies (as, for example, a mini-skirt or a low-cut
top does) nor does it emphasize any special parts of their body. |
