MYNIPPON: What
do you like about Japanese women?
Loletta: Above
all, I like their sense of
fashion.
These women know what they are doing and take care of the
details. Unlike a lot of
other Singaporean girls, I was born a little bit dark and thus I can
follow the ganguro
style. Also
following the trend in Japan, I have dyed my hair blonde.
MYNIPPON: What
part of Japanese fashion has put you in trouble?
Loletta: I
am simply in love with the Japanese schoolgirl outfit - especially the
loose socks and pleated
skirts, not exactly the way
Brooke Hogan wears it, but close
enough. In
Singapore, for someone my age, this outfit is absolutely scandalous. Other girls give me such a hard time. I have been accused of being childish when I dress like a
schoolgirl. Of course, as I
get older, it is becoming harder for me to dress in this outfit and I
even feel awkward sometimes. Also,
the local fashion scene does not allow me to do it.
The fashion in Singapore is more traditional the kind that
makes you feel like an old English lady. (Related article: Role

MYNIPPON: What
other Japanese fashions attract you?
Loletta: I
LOVE boots and I always wear them even though it is so hot here.
If only there were winter in Singapore!
I have mine specially ordered from overseas.
I also like scarves and
pullovers, which I think Japanese women
know how to use and bring out the best in their bodies.
Though a lot of my fans will find it bizarre, but I
actually would love to dress in a kimono it is so neat, so inviting.
I wanted to take a picture wearing a kimono and just let it slide
off my shoulders but since I do not have one, I had to do it with a
blouse. Now all this is not fashionable here the
college girls wear only plain T-shirts and jeans.
The fashionable club going types are into spaghetti straps, 3/4
pants or jeans or sometimes tube top and pants.
Mini-skirts, which seem to be everywhere in Japan, are an
absolute no-no here. Working
women
wear mostly jackets and knee-length skirts. The
colors here are also dull its all black
or white with an occasional dark blue.
Pink, green or shocking yellow are never seen around here. You
can say that Singapore fashion is rather boring and lifeless.
Girls here are not adventurous.
MYNIPPON: If
you know Japanese women are rather colorful and their favorite color
seems to be pink. What
about you?
Loletta: In
terms of clothes, my favorite colors are white and navy blue. I like pink for wallpaper, cell phone casing, and furniture.
I do not like pink lingerie as Japanese women do.
Since I am tanned, I also love white
lingerie.
