Vioxx victims in Australia sue Merck in the US

A law firm in the United States, that is at the forefront of suing Merck for personal injuries resulting from pain-killer Vioxx, recently helped victims in France file a class action lawsuit. They have already helped citizens of Britain. Kenneth B. Moll & Associates has now filed the first class action lawsuit on behalf of all citizens of Australia who allegedly died or were seriously injured. The firm reports that it is working with victims in as many as 57 countries and helping them with Vioxx litigation.

The head attorney at the firm also referred to the recent decision by a jury in Texas that found Merck guilty of causing the death of Bob Ernst and awarded damages over a quarter billion dollars. "The verdict clearly shows Merck's culpability in their decision to put profits ahead of Image of opera house in Sydney Australiathe safety of their consumers," he said.

Victims of Vioxx overseas are using the American legal system to sue Merck since it is a US-based company though the drug was sold worldwide through its subsidiaries. The second Vioxx trial Humeston vs. Merck is scheduled to begin next week in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
