Will you wear a kilt?

The Scots have worn a kilt (which for all practical purposes is a skirt) for centuries but skirts are still pretty much a woman's apparel. However, men these days wear panties, even bras, shave their legs, put makeup on (and mind you, these men are not gay), so wearing skirts is not something entirely revolutionary. Human beings have some strange concepts and biases. For instances, men's boxers are often made from silk in bright colors and prints (Confessions of men in panties) but if the same fabric is used to make briefs, it is a taboo. Similarly, men can wear shorts (that in my opinion, are not so different from skirts) but if they wear skirts (Related: I like to wear panties), some might label them as metrosexuals or crossdressers.
