Vioxx lawyers will find it easy

Only yesterday we discussed how the whole issue of Vioxx recall is being handled by Merck and FDA - total disregard for consumer health (Read related article: Vioxx recall controversy gets messy).

Now there are reports that marketing heads at Vioxx prevailed when internal discussions called for a more thorough investigation of doubts that Vioxx could actually harm the patients. People who do not understand the value of a patient's life and were more concerned about sending the wrong marketing message to the marketplace! "At present, there is no compelling marketing need for such a study," said a slide prepared for the meeting. "Data would not be available during the critical period. The implied message is not favorable." How unfortunate that a drug company put money over patient health!

So what does it mean? Basically that it may be an easy lawsuit for Vioxx lawyers. The evidence is starting to build very quickly that a lot of mistakes were made on the way and patient health was compromised.
