Hope fading for allowing Americans to import prescription drugs
Poor Americans may not have much hope for being able to import prescription drugs from Canada any time soon. In a report by the Health and Human Services Task Force on Drug Importation submitted to Congress today, Americans will hear what the drug industry has been asking for - that drug safety is an issue and there will be no savings. Interestingly enough, the report tries to establish a connection between importing prescription drugs and litigation in the United States (Related article: Americans may soon lose their right to file class action lawsuits against drug companies even if the drugs kill or injure them)
American individuals and many cities/states in the US have been importing prescription drugs from Canada for a while and today's report will only encourage them to engage in what is currently illegal in the country.
