The sad reality of life is that we are defined by how we look when people first see us. Of course, it is important that we must be beautiful inside to make great friends, be liked by people, and develop a lasting bond with a life partner, our looks
are what matters before all this can happen.
That is what happened to Katherine, who gained
about 100 lbs as a teenager, weighing well over 250 lbs. After the teasing from classmates got on her nerves, she dropped out of school, and
went into
depression. "I was at home 24X7X365 and just wouldn't even want to answer the door. I gained some more weight, my
self esteem reached its
bottom, and I even considered
suicide, until my psychiatrist suggested a gastric bypass surgery
procedure. Since the surgery, I have lost almost all my weight but since I have been out of the social scene for so long, I still feel awkward approaching people. What can I do to make myself more attractive to others?" she asks. |
