You must wait to buy a new car till next round of discounts
According to media reports, GM is ending its employee discount program, as was originally scheduled. But if you had read our previous report, the employee discount program was not necessarily a great deal for buyers, if you knew how to negotiate. But the reality is that vast majority of us hate to negotiate with pushy salespeople at car dealers. It seems that the company is aware of this concern among consumers so the company is going to be price its cars in a way that there will be minimal room for negotiation. That way if you do not like to negotiate then you would not feel as if you lost and the guy who can negotiate got a great deal.
But what will other automakers, like Ford and Chrysler, do? Will they match GM's strategy? Or should you just wait to buy a car next time there is a similar discount program.
