Learn to vacation like President Bush
- His current 5-week vacation is the longest presidential vacation in nearly four decades.
- Since coming to office in 2001, he has taken a vacation each month (49 vacations in 55 months).
- Bush has spent close to a year of his presidency on vacation -- more than 20 percent of his time in office.
Compared to our president, most Americans are lucky to get 2 weeks (ten days) off each year. A 2004 Expedia survey found that nationally, at least 30 percent of employed adults give up vacation time they earned, for a total of 415 million unused vacation days in 2004.
These statistics came to our minds as we did a story today on how to prepare a budget for your honeymoon/vacation. We are also closely following the developing story of Cindy Sheehan who wants to meet a vacationing president but he has refused to do so. Maybe Americans can refuse to check their voice mails and emails while on vacation.
