Merck wants to settle Vioxx cases

After news that Vioxx lawsuits are growing rapidly and now near 5,000, Merck is backing off somewhat from its initial hostile tone. Afraid that it may not be able to pay some $65 billion in Vioxx liabilities, the company is now saying that it may want to settle some lawsuits with the victims.
