Beauty secrets of Arab women

Take care of your skin

Can you guess who has the healthiest, youngest looking skin in the world? Arab women. While there is difference of opinion about the lives of women in the Middle East (and this is not the place to discuss it), there are some advantages of their lifestyle. According to research completed by Clinique La Prairie in Switzerland, here are the reasons for their good skin:

Stay indoors when the sun is out:  To many Americans this idea sounds ridiculous, but Arab women understand the power of sun; so they stay indoors when the sun is at its peak. Tanning, which is as dangerous as sunbathing, is also not common in the Arab world.  No wonder then that the incidence of skin cancer is relatively low.  (Related:  Skin cancer detection)

Cover your body:  That's right!  If you want to wear revealing clothes, then do it; just don't show your body to the sun.  While many women cover their faces for religious or cultural reasons, others who do not do so, still use parasols or scarves to protect their skin. Since most women dress modestly, most of their body parts can stay covered. The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center scientists love the idea too. They report that covering up is a valuable skin cancer prevention strategy and what a person wears makes all the difference. Research shows a white cotton T-shirt only provides the same protection as applying a sunscreen with SPF 5. If the shirt is wet, it loses about a third of its sun-blocking properties. For better protection, experts recommend choosing fabrics that are 100 percent polyester; dark colored; tightly woven and loose fitting, and to cover up with dry clothing after swimming. Sun-blocking clothes with sun protection woven into the fabric are another option. This lightweight gear comes in Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) 15 to 50 and has been shown to block 95 percent of UVB rays, both wet and dry.

They do not buy products based on price, but based on what it contains and what brad it is - that ensures quality.  So shopping at La Mer boutique, not at CVS.

Of course, they do not oppose plastic surgery. They still have anti-aging treatments and procedures like Botox, laser, and dermal fillers like Restylane, Scupltra, and Radiesse.
